Aaron and Amanda’s Heceta Head Lighthouse wedding was a beautiful celebration of two families coming together. The two live in Hawaii (as archeologists, so cool), and the their families all live far away, scattered across different states in the continental US. Their gorgeous micro-wedding was a rare coming-together of their favorite people in the world. The vision: Everyone together again, around a dinner table with impeccable food and wine. (As someone with Italian heritage, I felt especially called to document this meaningful moment for them!!).
Using a documentary approach
Knowing this mini family reunion was just important as the marriage itself, I really challenged myself to capture all of the memories they were making. Sandy feet, big laughs, holding hands, chats on the porch – all of it came together to make this trip so special for both Aaron and Amanda.

Hosting a Heceta Head Lighthouse wedding
If you’re dreaming of a romantic, windswept wedding on the Oregon Coast, few places rival the magic of Heceta Head Lighthouse. Perched on a dramatic cliffside just north of Florence, Oregon, this iconic landmark offers breathtaking views, historic charm, and an unforgettable setting for couples seeking something both intimate and awe-inspiring.

Ceremony and Reception Options
Many couples host their Heceta Head Lighthouse wedding ceremony on the lawn in front of the lighthouse. The space is perfect for elopements and intimate weddings, typically accommodating up to 40 guests. Just below the lighthouse is the Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, located in the historic assistant keeper’s house. This charming inn doubles as both a cozy getting-ready location and a unique reception venue.
The Bed & Breakfast offers indoor and outdoor event space, including a wraparound porch, a dining room, and well-kept gardens. It’s ideal for a small celebration with your closest loved ones.

A piece of Oregon coast history
Built in 1894, Heceta Head Lighthouse is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the Pacific Northwest—and for good reason. The whitewashed tower stands proudly above the Pacific, with panoramic views of crashing waves, rocky headlands, and dense coastal forest. It’s not just picturesque; it’s a piece of Oregon history. Couples who choose a Heceta Head Lighthouse wedding are surrounded by the romance of the past and the raw beauty of the coast.

Planning an Oregon Coast Wedding
Keep in mind that weather on the Oregon Coast can be unpredictable, especially in spring and fall. Be prepared with a flexible timeline and cozy layers for you and your guests. Permits may be required for ceremonies on public land, especially if you plan on having more than 50 guests or you’re setting up decor.

It’s also a good idea to hire a photographer familiar with coastal light and the unique terrain. The trails, cliffs, and ocean mist can be tricky—but they also create some of the most stunning images you’ll ever take.
