The Oregon Coast is home to 362 miles of beaches, cliffsides, old growth forests, and charming coastal towns. For many Oregonians, the coast serves as an escape for hot summer weather and a retreat from the pressures of the city. For travelers, this area transports you to the beating heart of the Pacific Northwest. The unpredictable weather, wind-beaten cliff sides, and smell of the sea make you feel like you've landed on a completely different planet.

From elopements, to traditional weddings, and everywhere in between, choosing to get married at the Oregon Coast is such a special way to honor your unique relationship.

Closest to Portland, the northern Oregon Coast is is full of historic charm, dramatic headlands, and iconic coastal scenery. Astoria sets the tone with its Victorian architecture, riverfront vibe, and unique historic venues, while towns like Cannon Beach and Manzanita offer stunning views of Haystack Rock, art galleries and cozy inns.

The journey ends at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, where golden sandstone cliffs rise above wide beaches and oceanfront venues put the surf just steps away. This stretch of coastline is ideal for couples who want a mix of quaint seaside towns, wild coastal beauty, and flexible venue options ranging from elegant resorts to relaxed community halls.

The southern Oregon Coast, stretching from Coos Bay down to Brookings, feels wilder and more secluded than the busier northern stretches, making it a dream for couples who want dramatic scenery and a sense of escape. FOR INSPIRATION AND IDEAS

WE'RE READY TO START PLANNING!

PERMITS, LICENSES & LOGISTICS

To legally get married at the Oregon Coast, you and your partner will need to apply for a marriage license in any Oregon county. Both applicants must appear in person, be at least 18 years old (or have parental consent if 17), and bring valid photo ID.

Once issued, the license has a three-day waiting period before it becomes effective, though some counties allow you to waive this for a small fee. Make sure to take that into account when you're traveling!

Marriages at the Oregon Coast also require the signature of two witnesses over the age of 18. If you're hoping to keep your union as private as possible, I'm happy to help find witnesses outside of your friends and family. I'm also ordained and can serve as your officiant, or as one of your witnesses (although do note that I can't do both).

MARRIAGE LICENSES
PERMITTING YOUR CEREMONY

Unless you have over 50 guests or are planning to bring chairs, arches, and other decor, you likely won't need a permit. However, permits are typically easy and inexpensive to get, so don't let that deter you. Most of the venues I listed above will also help you host your ceremony at the beach.

MANAGING UNPREDICTABLE WEATHER

Regardless of the time of year - even in the dead of summer - there is no getting around the chance of rain. That said - I absolutely love rainy weddings and can help you plan for ways to stay comfortable, find alternative venues, and embrace the look and feel of a rainy day. With a little bit of hardiness and a sense of adventure, a wet day at the coast can be an absolute blast.

That said, the best time of year to plan your elopement is from June through October. The chances of rain in summer are lower, and in the fall you'll see an incredible transition in scenery.

Born and raised in Oregon, I spent my childhood traveling up and down the coastline with my family. This place isn't a destination for me - it's home. I know the tides like the back of my hands, and I'm not afraid of wind, rain, and a little bit of sand. In fact, I welcome the unpredictable, rugged nature of the coast.

I take a primarily documentary style approach to my galleries. You'll find an abundance of stolen glances, gentle hand squeezes, and shared laughter. I'm also thoughtful about composition, lighting, and colors, which all help tell the real story of your wedding day.

Your portraits will feel natural and not overly-posed, and we'll make sure that you get to enjoy your day without it feeling like a photo shoot (unless you want it to!).
