Jaidyn, Jesse, and a small gathering of the most important people in their lives traveled from Alabama and Georgia for this absolutely gorgeous intimate wedding. Jaidyn felt called to the Oregon Coast by moody weather, big waves, and imposing rock walls, so I knew Hug Point would be the perfect location.
That afternoon, the coast put on an amazing show for us. We were blessed with rolling, dark clouds and intermittent spots of sunshine, without a single drop of rain. I’m so glad we were able to land the perfect backdrop for this really special ceremony.
Eloping on the Oregon Coast
The Oregon coast is renowned for its rugged cliffs, windswept beaches, and dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean, making it a dream destination for couples who want a more intimate celebration.
Permit Requirements
When planning a wedding or elopement on the Oregon coast, it’s important to be aware of any permits you may need, especially if you’re planning to tie the knot at a state park. Popular locations like Ecola State Park, Cape Kiwanda, and Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor all require permits for weddings, albeit typically only if you have more than 50 guests, or want to set up structures like arches and seating. Permits help manage environmental impact and ensure your event doesn’t conflict with others. I can absolutely help navigate permits as we narrow down locations for your ceremony.
Scenic Locations
The coast line offers rolling seagrass fields, towering black or red rocks, crashing waves, lush old growth forests, and flat sandy expanses. Whatever your vision is, we can find exactly the right locations for your portraits, vow exchange, ceremony, etc.
Small Towns to Explore
The Oregon coast is dotted with charming towns that offer a quaint, intimate feel, perfect for an elopement or micro wedding. Cannon Beach, with its art galleries and cozy cafes, is a popular choice for couples. Yachats, a small, quiet town nestled at the base of Cape Perpetua, offers a slower pace and beautiful natural surroundings. For those heading farther south, Bandon and Manzanita provide equally delightful atmospheres, offering plenty of local shops and small restaurants to enjoy during your stay.
What to Bring and Wear
The Oregon coast’s weather can be unpredictable, so it’s essential to prepare for varying conditions. Bring layers to stay warm, especially if your ceremony takes place early in the morning or late in the evening. Waterproof footwear is a must if you’re planning to walk on the beach, and it’s a good idea to bring a windproof jacket to protect against coastal breezes. For accessories, pack a cozy blanket or shawl for post-ceremony photos, and consider bringing umbrellas for unexpected rain. A thermos with hot tea or coffee can be a nice touch to warm up after the ceremony!
What a special place for their special day. You captured the romance of the setting and the day for them so beautifully.
