As lovers of the outdoors, Jo and Bobby picked the perfect location for their engagement photos. The Columbia River Gorge is home to some of Oregon and Washington’s most famous, and beautiful, natural backdrops.
The Columbia River Gorge
Columba River Gorge engagement photos are perfect for those drawn to quintessential Pacific Northwest landscapes.
Easily accessible from Portland, the Columbia River Gorge is the canyon that runs along the Columbia River that separates Oregon and Washington. Just over 80 miles long, the Gorge contains a huge variety of different types of landscapes. You can find dramatic rocky cliffs, cascading waterfalls, sweeping fields, and even rolling desert hills. If you go far enough out, you can enjoy Oregon’s Hood River or Washington’s White Salmon, both of which are home to a number of some of the world’s best wineries and breweries.
The Gorge is one of my absolute favorite locations for both engagements and elopements.
Where should we meet?
Latourell Falls
These photos were taken at Latourell Falls. A mere 30 minutes from my front door in Portland, this incredible location is easily accessible from the parking lot. The base of the waterfall is located just at the base of a brief, paved path, making it the perfect location for those who don’t want to do a ton of walking or hiking, but want to feel connected to nature and show off one of Oregon’s most dramatic backdrops. Here’s one of my favorite elopements at Latourell Falls.
Wahclella Falls
If you’re down for a short hike, Wahclella Falls is a mile from its trailhead and offers a moody, Iceland-like vibe for your photos. It’s one of my very favorite locations, and provides a little more privacy by the nature of its location.
